From Palm Trees to Pajamas: Navigating the Hilarious Abyss of Post-Vacation Blues
As winter approaches and the weather is getting colder and colder, like me, many of you are most likely going to swap out your winter jackets and winter tires for beach towels and cocktails. And that's all well and dandy and I wish you nothing but the best, however, there’s the not so good side of vacation that gets mentioned way less. The soul-sucking abyss of the “post vacation blues.” The dreaded feeling of emails and bills instead of the sun-soaked shores of Thailand.
But fear not. We got some tips that you can help you ease back into real life and not the fantasy land that is vacation (because lets be honest, anywhere you go where you're living in vacation mode is always going to seem better than your already dope life.)
This always helps me whenever I’m feeling down or when I feel myself getting envious of someone else’s highlight reel on Instagram or any other social media platform. If you don’t already have a Gratitude Journal, I highly recommend it. It’s basically a journal that already has preset questions that allow you to reflect on your own life and all the blessings you have. As well as ways the day could’ve gone better. It’s one of my favorite self-improvement/mental health tools.
Maybe journaling is not your thing. Another way to help with gratitude is meditation. And if you think you don’t have 5-10 minutes to meditate a day, you need it the most. I personally use Mind Space, but if you don’t want to pay for the app, youtube has plenty of meditation videos, and they are specific to what you want to get out of each session. I like the gratitude and “start your morning right” type of meditation videos. And sometimes I’ll use the “wind down” before bed meditations. You can do these meditations sober, but I prefer doing 1 20mg cbd gummy to really help me get into the zone and wind down.
This is my personal favorite. Exercise makes everything better. It always sucks to start but there's never been a time I regretted working out. It’s almost impossible to feel bad after a workout. This one feels the best to me, but it's definitely the hardest one to start (especially if you’re feeling down.) Which is why I have it at number 3. If you are able to do the first 2 things then it would make this one a lot easier to start. For this one I wouldn’t recommend doing edibles. However, I like to take CBD gummies for post workout. It not only helps with recovery, but it helps bring your body back to equilibrium.
It’s hard to feel good without proper sleep. When I don’t get enough sleep, everything seems difficult to do. I feel less confident and more groggy. I go from a joyful young at heart man (I’m no longer an actual young man, just at heart lol) into a grumpy old man. And no one wants to be around that. Not even you! So get proper sleep. Especially if you got the post vacation blues. Just don’t sleep too much. That will just make you more sad. I know right? Sleep… Don’t sleep. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT FROM ME?! It’s life. Balance, my brothers and sisters. Balance. It’s the way of the force. And here is my shameless plug. Oh look, how convenient, we also have sleep gummies :) lol. But all jokes aside, only take our sleep gummies if you need help with sleep. And never overdo it. More sales for us is dope. But I never want ya’ll to overdo anything if you don’t need to. Your well being and safety is our number 1 priority. So, go get some proper sleep.
Drink Lots of Water
This is so simple yet believe it or not, many people I know don’t drink enough water. It’s crazy because it's literally life. But somehow, you have to remind yourself to get enough water, or you could literally die… drink your damn water. What I do is right when I wake up, I’ll drink at least a full cup of water with a pinch of salt before ingesting anything (yes even before coffee). The salt will help your body intake the water more effectively. Not drinking enough water cause a shit ton of problems like headaches, moodiness, and metal fog. You just don’t feel like yourself. And the last thing you need is to aid in the worsening of your post vacation blues.
So drink your damn water, get your damn sleep and workout. Once you’ve done the biological work, throw in journaling and meditation. And you’ll be better off handing post vacation blues. And remember to go out and have fun as well. Hit up your friends and family. Don’t lock yourself in and pile on the sad. Because it could easily compound itself, especially during these winter months. I’ve dealt with this many times myself so I know how it could get. I hope ya’ll nothing but the best. And I’m always available if you need someone to reach out to. Hit up my email [email protected] and I got you! Don’t be a stranger. We are family now.
