When Landon and I first attended a 420 event two years ago, we wanted to try everything, but there was a problem. Each gummy bear or cookie was packed with 20 to 50 mg of THC. For avid potheads that's a good amount, but for people like us--those who don’t smoke pot three to four times a day--that was way too much.
Ever since then, we noticed other people echo the same thoughts. We started hearing horror stories about overdosing on marijuana. Whether it was about people passing out at parties, having bad trips and falling asleep for 20 hours, a lot of people just had horrible first-time experiences. That's when we realized how important it was to educate potential customers about dosage and how it would affect their trip before they purchased edibles.
Spotting this huge gap in the market, we made it our mission to create a product that would allow people, like creatives and entrepreneurs, to get high as a way to enhance their lifestyle--not take over their lives.
Fast forward to present day and we're so proud to say that we've accomplished this by created something really special. Our customers are not only fans of our products, but also fully support our brand mission. However, as our company grows, so does our audience. Unlike before, our customers now vary. There are those who are ultra sensitive to THC to those who need more than three gummies to feel even a slight high.
People love our gummies. They love the taste and they love our service. But some people want a higher dosage because they've built up a tolerance. How could we say no to them?
Say hello to BB Black: Watermelon edition
To those who want something with a little more punch, BB Black is the answer to your edible prayers. The black packaging signifies a higher dosage. 250mg to be exact. We're always constantly testing out new products and decided that since we were upping the dosage with BB Black, it was time to add a new flavour to the mix too.
Our team has so many different tastes and preferences and we just wanted to make sure we found a flavour that everyone could enjoy. So we made prototypes, had our ambassadors try them and used the results to decide what our next flavour would be. The overwhelming response? Watermelon was hands down the favourite. Is anyone surprised?
Watermelon is sooo tasty. We had the taste, we had the texture. Everything was on point, but we just couldn't seem to get the colour right. We consulted with candy makers, chefs and colour experts. Ironically, it was a lovely lady named Diana, a hair salon owner, that helped us figure out the right combination to get the perfect pink and red colour. It's pretty crazy, but hair stylists are amazing with colours and dye. (Making colours with dye is completely different than your typical RGB that's found using colour wheels, or programs like Photoshop!)
We know that a lot of our base customers love the 100 mg gummies because of their low-tolerance. They may not be able to indulge in these bad boys so I'm hoping we didn't make the wrong decision with debuting the watermelon flavour with BB Black. If anything, those with low-tolerance could just split each gummy in half to enjoy them in smaller doses. (How economical, right? Haha.)
